Helping Hand of Humboldt’s Community Kitchen opens it doors daily to serve free hot meals to people in need. Regardless of the hot meal service or regular Helping Hand hours, emergency food is always available and distributed at no cost to those in need. Our doors are open for those that need a place to come and clean up, shower, wash their clothes, and receive nourishment. They receive free toiletries and any other items they need, along with guidance and counseling.
Community service hours can be earned to meet requirements for student scholarships.

Hand helps provide these necessities:
- Supplies utilities and housing assistance to those in need.
- Provides free food to over 500 people a month through the Food Pantry.
- Provides free hot meals for almost 600 people a month through the Community Kitchen.
- Provides free food and delivery to local shut ins.
- Provides a free Thanksgiving meal in coordination with community volunteers and donors.
- Provides a place for those in need to come for free hot showers, toiletries and clean clothes.
- Houses a ‘resale shop’ with low-cost and/or free clothing, household goods, and accessories.
- Provides case management services in order to more truly meet real needs and identify core causes of poverty.
- Hosts monthly Mobile Food Pantry sponsored by Second Harvest and provides monthly free food to qualifying families.
- Hosts a ‘Toys for Christmas’ giveaway for eligible families – 3 toys per child.
- Hosts educational classes and bible studies in the new Education Center.
